Valentine's Day | Makeup Lookbook

Continuing on from my last post, my Valentine's Day Nail Edit, I bring you my take on a Valentine's Day inspired makeup look. Whether you're going on a date with your other half (woot woooo, lucky you) or have a single pringle chillfest with some mates, it's always important to love yourself and spending an extra bit of time on my makeup while blaring my favourite music always makes me feel great about myself. Here are two variations of the same look: one with a soft pink lipstick and the second option has a bright pinky red lip that screams Valentine's Day. Take your pick.

Base: First up I primed my face with the Models Prefer Liquid Light Brightening Primer- easily the best primer/highlighter hybrid ever- to give a boost of radiance while also extending the wear time of my base and giving a better application. Next, I hit the NARS Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc as it offers quite good coverage while still looking quite natural. To cover any remaining blemishes and my dark circles I blobbed a few dots of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer and blended them in.

Cheeks: I always find that without blush, my face can look quite flat and a little bit dead, so I dusted a light layer of the Tarte Amazonian 12 Hour Blush in Dollface on the apples of my cheeks and along the cheekbones. I then topped it off with another dose of the MP Liquid Light along my cheekbones for an extra bit of glow to leave my skin looking healthy and fresh and highlighting my cheekbones. Today, I left bronzer out of the rotation as I wanted it to look very natural and girly without too much definition.

Eyes: Again, I left the eyes quite simple and light so my makeup didn't look too heavy. I opted for a swipe of the MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study on the lids followed by a light wash of the Revlon Luxurious Colour Perle Eye Shadow in the shade 040 Brushed Copper, which is a shimmery light pink. This combo gives such a pretty and sweet look to the eyes- I really need to break these ones out more often. I followed up with a thick coat of Maybelline The Falsies to give length, volume, and some serious definition to my lashes. Now onto lips...

Lips: OPTION 1) For the first look I used the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in the shade 103 which is a soft, dusty rose colour with a matte finish. This lipstick, despite being matte, is still quite creamy and doesn't dry out the lips (perfect if you're getting your smooch on ;) ). This lipstick gives quite a soft finish overall and looks very pretty on the lips. OPTION 2) This option is a little bit more of a daring choice, and one that I personally love. For this look I used the MAC lipstick in the shade All Fired Up, which is a bright pink toned red and is also a matte finish (can you sense a trend here?). This lipstick adds a kick of colour into this look and would be perfect for an evening look. Which lipstick do you prefer?

  1. Dollface is quite a lovely shade, but my eyes are set on Natural Beauty. I currently own Exposed, in fact I'm wearing it right now, and it's definitely a nice one.
I think I prefer All Fired Up by MAC for this look, by the way! :)
