Lip crayons have to be my favourite way for a quick fix of colour on the lips: simple, quick, and no-fuss, these giant sticks come out on top. There's no need to faff around with lip liners, they are not greasy or sticky, and they hydrate the lips while still maintaining high-shine, pigmented colours. Here's a look at some of my favourites on the high street:

Released a few months back in Priceline stores across Australia, there is quite a large colour range for a drugstore product. I was particularly impressed with the shade Coral Twist and decided to pick this up in their introductory offer. Covergirl have really brought it when it comes to the formula- just a nice hint of coral across the lips livens up the face and tops off any pretty summer makeup look. Following the trend of lip crayons, the colour wears off nicely throughout the day (no unsightly patches of colour to be found- phew) and they keep my lips from feeling like the Sahara desert.

Out of the four shades available in Australia, I picked up two of the shades: Peach on the Beach and Orange Punch (Orange Punch is actually quite similar to the Covergirl offering). Bourjois just seems to be bringing it across the field in the last few months, and these are no exception. I'll just put it out there: I love these. A lot. Both shades brighten the face nicely and are easy to throw in your handbag for on the go. Orange Punch seems a bit scary in the bullet, but it is quite sheer and glossy on the lips, unlike a solid punch of orange, as the name suggests. These two shades are really beautiful and I'm looking forward to rocking these over the summer months.

It seems like every blogger and their mother's cat have talked about the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. However, I feel like the hype surrounding these scribble-on-lip products is justified. I picked up the shades Honey and Crush- a beautiful easy-to-wear mid-toned pink and gorgeous darker plummy shade respectively. I adore these two shades- Honey is so easy to apply and I find I can even haphazardly slap this one on without a mirror and it still looks good and Crush I love with smoky brown eyes. Gorgeous. My only bugbear is that the writing rubs off these so fast- there hasn't been a trace of gold lettering on Honey since about two weeks after purchasing! Regardless, I'm thinking about grabbing Rendezvous and Sweetheart as well- I'm just hanging out for a good Priceline deal on Revlon products...

I only own a few odd bits from MaxFactor, nothing extensive, so when I saw their release of a lipgloss-lipstain hybrid a while back, I knew I had to pick it up. The shade Designer Blossom is a gorgeous mix of pink and red, and the glossy consistency of the crayon means that it can be sheered out for a light wash of colour or really built up to be quite pigmented. I find that this one stains the lips for a really long time- the swatch on my hand didn't come off after a session with a cotton round and eye makeup remover- so there's no need to worry about constantly touching up your lippie! This one is a really great pick and a touch more affordable than the some other brands from the drugstore (ahem- Revlon, I'm looking at you!).

Models Prefer:
Now for an Aussie gem hidden away in the aisles of Priceline stores- the Models Prefer Ultra Gloss lip pencil in Dare to Wear. Let me just say that I have never seen such high pigmentation in my life. In the swatches on my hand, I only needed the slightest amount of pressure to give such an opaque finish compared to the other swatches where I went over it a few extra times. Holy moly guacamole. Dare to Wear is a stunning warm toned red which looks great on tanned skin. My crystal ball of future product picks tells me this will be one to watch out for over the next few months- bring on summer! This pencil also looks great when it is lightly dabbed onto the lips and sheered out with lip balm for a more subtle look. Australian girls- this is one to pick up on your next visit to Priceline...

To these are my top picks for lip crayons- get scribbling away for a simple, glossy look. What are your favourite lip crayons?
